Community Health Needs To Become The Main Focus Of Organizations In Africa

Africa needs support to ameliorate its poor community health. Community health programs can be conducted by NGOs and government bodies for communities residing in villages who have virtually no access to free tests to find out whether they are suffering from any deadly medical condition or not. Underlying heart diseases, diabetes, HIV, etc. can be detected by simple screen tests, conducted in various poor villages.

Such health initiatives can help in making critical diagnosis. For a person who is on the starting stages of a serious medical condition, free screening tests can help him/her avoid that condition from further developing into a serious issue. Appropriate medications can be provided on the spot and lifestyle changes can be suggested to get rid of the condition.

Not only for making diagnosis, such health campaigns can be used to educate villagers about health and sanitation. HIV is another big problem which needs to be tackled. Professionals can organize counselling session on HIV and educate the younger population of the village about this dreaded virus.

Big foundations from around the world are focusing on improving health conditions in the unfortunate sections of Africa. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, John Hopkins School of Public Health, The U.S. Agency for International Development, etc. are some of the big international parties that have invested in Africa to better its public health among the poor sections of the population.

It has become important to choose development of community health in Africa than any other development at the moment. A nation can thrive only when its citizens are healthy and fit. And they become healthy and fit only when there are screening tests available along with affordable or free treatment.
